This study unit is about doing exegesis of the exposition/exhortation literature type and doing exegesis and hermeneutics of the New Testament epistles. Students learn to apply a model of Bible interpretation and application. They also explore three main kinds of translations.

This study unit is about identifying the communication situation and central message of the New Testament epistles within their historical contexts.

THE503 Church and Worldview (3 credits)

This study unit is about providing biblical answers for the church on worldview. It includes formulating a biblical worldview, identifying the local worldview and comparing them.

This study unit is about preparing and leading Bible studies for a small group.

MIN501 Homiletics 1 (2 credits)

This study unit is about preparing and delivering biblical messages purposefully and effectively within a specific context.

HIS601 Church History (2 credits)

This study unit is about gaining insights into the historical development of the student’s own church, in order to have a better understanding of its place within the broader church community.

This study unit is about understanding biblical worship and how to plan and lead the prayer, praise and worship segments in a church service.

This study unit is about applying the steps of exegesis to biblical wisdom literature and the skills to do exegesis and hermeneutics on the Old Testament wisdom books.

MIN602 Pastoral Care of Individuals (2 credits)

This study unit is about providing biblically-based pastoral care to individuals in a church or ministry situation, and not for close family members.

MIN606 Homiletics 2 (3 credits)

This study unit is about preparing and delivering two different series of biblical messages selected from the following: series of sermons, series of biblical messages, series of children’s messages or series of young people’s messages.

MIN504 Biblical Family Relationships (3 credits)

This study unit is about promoting biblical family relationships and biblical principles of sexuality.

Year Four: Major Project Units

MIN701 Context and Needs Identification (3 credits)

This study unit is about equipping students to understand the broader context in which they minister as a basis for interpreting local needs. It includes a study of the cultural mindset, an analysis of the social, political and economic climate and their relevance for Christian ministry. It also includes the context of the student’s own ministry, denomination and/or congregation, and the particular need for their ministry. This unit is the first phase of a major project.

MIN702 Strategic Planning for Ministry (3 credits)

This study unit is about equipping students with the skills to prepare a strategic ministry plan. It includes consulting stakeholders and doorkeepers, and developing a strategic ministry plan. It forms the second phase of a major project.

MIN703 Mobilization of Ministry Personnel (3 credits)

This study unit is about equipping students with the skills to identify, lead and motivate a ministry team. It includes identifying personnel, training team members, and leading a team. It forms an aspect of the major project.

MIN704 Resource Management in Ministry (3 credits)

This study unit is about equipping students with the skills to manage monetary and non-monetary resources for ministry. It includes developing and implementing a budget, managing non-monetary resources, and completing reports.

MIN705 Implementation Issues in Ministry (3 credits)

This study unit is about equipping students with the skills to implement a ministry program in a multifaceted context. It includes interim program evaluations of the ministry plan in view of overall focus and making any necessary adjustments.

MIN706 Evaluation of Ministry Programs (3 credits)

This study unit is about equipping students with the skills to evaluate a ministry program in a multifaceted context. It is the final phase of the major project. It includes reflecting critically on one’s own performance as well as conducting and reporting a formal evaluation.
